The testosterone-laden four-page letter from Willis
attorney Marty Singer that doomed the "Split Screen" piece.
It includes some unusual accusations (such as that during
his call I refused to give him my "real name," which he
obviously knew when he called my private phone number) and
this hopeless attempt to defuse the whole thug embarrassment:
"...we are informed
that persons may have made statements to the effect that Mr.
Willis' 'goon' employees engaged in certain inappropriate
conduct. Be advised that the referenced security personnel
are not employees of Mr. Willis..."

The Hailey Police Department documents on the thug
incident, in which the Hailey PD, without equivocation,
identifies the aforementioned goons as employees of Willis
and his Hailey businesses.

The Confidentiality Agreement that Willis insisted be
signed by employees of his Hailey businesses, and which
forbids the signer from talking about Willis, his family,
his friends or his associates. Calling for a $50,000 penalty
for each violation, the document prevented many fired
employees from speaking out about Willis in the press. An
outrageous violation of the First Ammendment (apparently
the Willis syndicate's least favorite ammendment), the
agreement would never stand up in court--but try telling
that to some average Joe or Jane who has signed it.
