No start-up indie event would be complete without the founders attempting to give the illusion that they are all about helping people other than themselves. Far be it from Slumdance to depart from this tradition, so let's just get this right out in the open: We're all about helping people.

And we're also all about being down with the people. Slumdance is currently accepting entries, but there is no pool of unpaid interns casually fast-forwarding through the VHS submissions we receive. We don't even fast-forward through them ourselves. In fact, we won't even look at them, because submitting a preview copy of your film not only isn't a requirement, it's not even allowed--at least, not just yet.

We could admit that this is because there simply isn't enough time to slog through hundreds of submissions between now and Park City, or because we don't relish the idea of watching a bunch of movies as vague and pretentious as our own, but we prefer to explain ourselves thusly: It's because we're all about the people, man. Consideration by Slumdance isn't based on your film. It's based on you. In fact, technically speaking, you don't even need to have a film to apply to Slumdance. Do you have a play, a dance routine, a song or a manifesto? How about just a monologue or an interesting thought? Enter it in Slumdance, along with your ideas on how you would present your work in Park City.

At the basement of the Mission there is a link to the Entry Form, but you might want to think of it as a "Personality Test." While we could watch your film/other for such qualities as coherence, imagery and a point of view, we'd rather examine you first for such qualities as courage, humor and constructive bitterness.
