Slumdance Experiences

The Opening Ceremony

Saturday, January 18, 1997
9 p.m.
At the Slum, 268 Main Street

We sincerely promise to present the resurrection of a corpse, the debut of the Slumdance Mascot, maybe an instructional dance song (we hope to start a craze) and the world premiere of a funny movie. After the Opening Ceremony and the screening everybody will be allowed to party. During the party we'll be giving awards to guests. If you're lucky, you'll get the Golden Rat.

The Opening Ceremony, as all Experiences at the Slum, will be free. If you want to find out what Slumdance is all about, you won't want to miss this event. We'll be exposing ourselves.

The Hospitality Slum

Every day
Starting at noon
At the Slum
268 Main Street, Park City

Every day after our Opening Ceremony, the Slum on Main Street will be available to visitors starting at noon. The Slum contains a Mission, at which any of the unfortunate people in Park City can come to get a free cup of soup. This includes you. During the afternoons the Slum will be a casual place where you can stop by, see many Slumdance films on request (the "Build Your Own Festival" Experience), socialize with filmmakers and others and do impressions of celebrities. (If you do that bit that includes four aging male movie stars in a football huddle, you should know we really love that one).

Slumberdance at Slumdance

Yes, a slumber party. Slumdance will present an evening of sleeping bags and trash cinema. Our goal is to provide the only Park City atmosphere in which it is not a faux pas to fall asleep during a screening. It's also okay to talk through the films (Slumberdance event only). Come crash at the Slum. Free, of course.

Film Threat Night

Thursday, January 23, 1997
8 p.m.
At the Slum
268 Main Street, Park City

Film Threat editor Christian Gore presents his private stash of shorts. Not for the easily offended. Many never seen before. In fact, we haven't seen any of them yet. We just trust Chris, for no good reason at all. The shorts are followed by BULLET ON A WIRE at 10 p.m.

Closing Night Awards Ceremony

Friday, January 24, 1997.
8 p.m.
At the Slum
268 Main Street, Park City

We like the films we've accepted to date so much that we feel like giving awards to all of them. And we just might. Screening of TRAILER at 8 p.m., "awards" ceremony at 10 p.m.
