Chris's (18) Birthday
Went to Chris's house to give him his card
but he wasn't home.
Went to Cris and Brian's too.
Went to dinner at the Tin Cup with Lisa and Elaine.
It was fun.
Went out with Chris afterwards. Yeah.
I had a great time. He was really sweet.
I'm glad I was with him on his birthday.

I can't even begin to explain Thursday night's Sit 'N Spin except to say for now - f-ing hysterical and sinfully crude. From some of the same folks that brought you Hollywood Hellhouse, the special holiday edition of Sit 'N Spin at the Comedy Central Stage, came the songs of Chuck E. Weiss, the howlingly funny stylings of Maggie Rowe and the raunchy rancor of Ron Zimmerman. This year marks the year I saw Ron portray Jesus, Satan & Santa! Sit "n Spin closes out 2004 with a cackle and a cringe.

Today was Concert T-Shirt Day.
Jodee gave me her senior picture.
Got a letter from Sheryl.
Went over to Lisa's for a while.
Went to bed early.
Today I treated myself to a frothy vanilla amphetamine. I had one of those Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cards where you buy 12 and get the 13th free. The last 12 concoctions from CBTL were all either iced teas or Japanese Cherry Green Tea. I am not a coffee drinker. At least I haven't been in over 12 or 14 years. I even try to stay away from black tea.
However, I recently found on a cold football-watching Sunday that one of my football-watching bartenders makes a hellovan Irish Coffee with a twist and I don't mean lemon. Made me wish I could drink coffee every day.
So when I marched into CBTL on this 75-degree day, I said to myself, self, why on this lovely winter day, waste a freebie on an iced tea? So I ordered a Cafe Vanilla Soy Latte. Large.
Now I can't get the dishes done fast enough or my hand washables done fast enough or the dog brushed thoroughly enough. Now I'm getting a headache. My fingers are twitching. Gotta scratch my head. And the back of my hands. My feet are tapping and there's no music on. Should eat something but don't feel like it. I think I need to crash. Don't think I could do this every day. Damn that was a really damn good drink.

Today was Pigtails & Freckles Day of Spirit Week.
I got our dance pictures and Chris said he liked them.
Went over to Lisa's for a while tonight to show her the pictures.
We wrote a "Dear Santa" letter signed by Chris.
Author's Note:
FYI : The photos attached to 70's entries are all of Aurora, the town in which I grew up, the (now) 2nd largest city in Illinois. Back then it was all corn fields, soybean fields and the tracks and river that separated the proverbial "right side" from the "wrong side".

50's Day
Went to McDonald's today for lunch.
I wasn't very nice to Chris but he deserved it.
The dance pictures came in but I found out too late.
Debbie saw them and said they were pretty good.

TGIF
Stayed after school today and stayed in T's room. Went to basketball game. We beat Elgin 73-42. Yeah! Went to McDonald's after. Talked to a lot of people. Chris was a real brat.

Got my report card today. BOO! Went to a swim meet at East with Sue. It was pretty good. Stayed home at night. Got in a big fight with Mom & Dad. Terrible night.

After a week of winter, it is summer again! Skipped Runyon today and went to Griffith Park. Enjoyed the air and the views. Oscar enjoyed the smells and the shade. Now it's time to get ready for the eFilm Christmas party at Cinespace! Out of the pink hiking boots and into the paten leather Diesel boots.

The other day I bought my dog a jingle bell collar. It's red & green striped with about five small jingle bells on it. It's pretty damn cute, really. Not to mention he really likes it.
This morning I was at Runyon hiking and I suddenly realized that he was very jingly running up and down the hills and I wondered - Is it too much? Is it one thing to jingle around the house and the yard, and just way TOO for the public?
Help me. I'm having a vicarious fashion crisis.

'Twas a couple weeks before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even the wild dog.
The stockings were hung on the bar with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Bourbon - check. Tequila - check. Irish Whiskey - check. French Pear Brandy - check. Pimms - check. Cognac - check. Scotch - uh...gotta go Christmas shopping!

Scott picked me up for school today. Didn't talk to Chris today. Ordered my class ring. Went out with Lisa tonight. Took David to a hockey game then went to Fatty's.

There wasn't much to do today so I came home and slept.

Talked to Cara and she said Chris said he had a real good time Friday nite. Listened to records after school. Called Lisa. Wrote a letter to Julie.

Had to work from 1 to 9:30. Went to the Office. Had a good time. Angel was there celebrating his breakup with Debbie.

The Annual Toluca Lake Christmas Walk (free food samples from the restaurants, Santa, carollers...) was put slightly on hold last night when Barbara's office building caught on fire. There we were at the packed bar of Mo's having some Christmas cocktails when her partner called to inform us. "Uh, when you tell Barbara, try not to sound too panicked..."
It was practically business as usual in the coffee shop that is housed on the bottom floor of the building and the Burbank Fire Department didn't seem too frazzled about all the smoke billowing out of the back door.

We went back to Mo's and I talked football with a scientist and Barbara pondered the imminent smoke damage and the business insurance premium she JUST paid days before.

WINTER DANCE
I was so excited for tonight at school. Chris picked me up at 6:45. He had a party at his house before the dance. I had a great time with him except at dinner. But everything else was really fun. Got home at 3:30!
Author's Note:
Ooh yeah - front double-zip bell bottoms and a "what am I doing here" smile. I think that was the first and last time I told the truth about getting home so late because "I fell asleep"....
I had to go to Naimie's yesterday for some Keihls. Naimie's is a beauty supply store and day spa in Studio City. The store caters to Make-up Artists and gives them a discount if they can prove their status - pretty much what I did for Bobbi Brown back at Neimans for a while. At the check-out when asked if I was "in the computer", a gal next to me offered up her status so I could get the discount. I was so grateful and flumexed I couldn't even play along like we were together. I knew people did that at Neimans and I'm sure it happens at Naimi's all the time - the employee didn't skip a beat. I saved about four bucks.
Later, I was at Petco, standing in line with a woman who was telling me about her Labradoodle puppy. She reached the check-out and was asked if she had a Petco card. She didn't so I offered up mine and she saved six dollars and change. I gave her my business card and told her to check out my dog portraits. At this, she says, "You know who gave me the dog? Brian Wilson." She went on to share some story about him never being late and they were having lunch and I don't think she ever finished the story because our transactions were taking place and then we said good-bye and she left.
In the parking lot I waved to her in her convertible cherried black roadster and hoped she didn't forget that card was in her coat pocket... Wouldn't it be nice.

Strange Day. Found out Chris wasn't going to the dance with Peggy and Cara told me to ask him so I did. He said YES! We went to Fox Valley to buy our matching shirts. I had a lot of fun.

Took the SAT test this morning. Went shopping with Robin. Went to work then went to Joy's party. It was alright. Weird people though. Called Tony when I got home. He's great.
