Slamdance, Columbine and me: Get the full story tomorrow night

While I was at Slamdance, I briefly mentioned on this blog a controversy involving the indie game Super Columbine Massacre by Danny Ledonne.

What I didn't mention is that I personally got involved in this controversy while serving on the Slamdance Documentary Jury. Specifically, the Slamdance Documentary Jury voted to give Super Columbine Massacre a Special Jury Prize for its innovative nonfiction storytelling -- a prize that was killed after the enraged director of the festival, Peter Baxter, browbeat my two fellow jurors into submission moments before the official announcement of the awards on January 26. I resigned from the jury on the spot.

Yes, it was all very exciting. And I have just been invited to tell the full story of what happened behind the scenes tomorrow night at this panel at the University of Southern California:

Title: Slamdance Post-Mortem: A Discussion about Games as an Expressive Medium
Time: Wednesday, February 14, 6-8pm
Location: USC's Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts (RZC),
Room 201 Zemeckis Media Lab (ZML)

Peter Baxter is on the panel as well, and I intend to call him to account for what he did.

See you there.
