Protecting vulnerable minds in Dallas

Christian apologist Kevin Harris writes (emphasis mine):

I am showing portions of [The God Who Wasn't There] at church Sunday night (June 18) at 6:30pm, in the main auditorium of First Baptist Colleyville (DFW Metroplex).

[...]

I am only showing portions of the film because much of it is rather mocking, i.e. the old Jesus film footage, etc. But I am showing the true meat from your experts and will be responding.

Hmm... Interesting what this Christian apologist has chosen to do with the freedom to screen The God Who Wasn't There.

1. If you've seen the film, you know that "mocking" hardly describes the six-minute recap of the story of Jesus. It is told in a generally straightforward manner. It's the actual content of the story that makes it so funny. How illuminating that a committed defender of the faith is afraid of simply telling the story of Jesus plainly from beginning to end.

2. The running time of the documentary is actually designed to allow ample time for Q&A and panel discussions at live events. Mr. Harris could show the uncensored documentary and give himself a whole hour to respond to it, and the entire event would still be only two hours long. Or Mr. Harris could even give himself twice the running time of the movie and the audience could still go home by 9:30 pm.

But the flock must be protected. After all, Christians are not mature, thinking people who can judge source material for themselves. That material must be censored and characterized before presentation to such vulnerable minds. Or so it appears.

If you attend this "screening," please drop me a line and let me know how it went. What enturbulation does Mr. Harris choose to protect his audience from?
