Independent distribution--it's actually working

god who wasn't thereIf you haven't checked out the movie site in a while, you can use a search tool there to easily see if The God Who Wasn't There is coming to a theater near you. The world premiere is in San Francisco May 21. Followed by Birmingham (yes, in Alabama) May 25, Bloomington (Indiana) June 18 & 25, and New York City (at the Pioneer Theater) on June 18.

All of these screenings are being set up by freethought groups or independent people interested in getting this movie seen and using it to help their groups in their communities. I have given blanket permission to anyone to mount a theatrical screening (or run) of the movie and keep all of the revenue it generates. Thanks to San Francisco Atheists and the Universist Movement for jumping at the first chance.

If you're interested supporting a movie that exposes the harmful effects of Christian doctrine, go to this special site and sign up for the team. You have to find a venue and do your own legwork in your community, but we provide promotional and press materials as well as guidance. Basically, anyone with some initiative can mount a screening--nobody currently doing it has done one before, and they're all doing a great job and are already reaping benefits for their groups. The relatively young Universist Movement, for example, is getting major print, radio and possibly TV exposure as a result of hosting screenings of the movie in Birmingham and NYC. I know, because these outlets are calling me up for interviews.

You can see a little movie I made pitching the idea here.

(Note: Please post any general questions you have to the forum on the team site, rather than emailing me. It's been hard for me to keep up with email the past few weeks, but people on the team site will respond to you.)

Media alert: I'll be on The Infidel Guy radio show this Friday.
