Your Fair & Balanced update

Blogs:

Atrios linked Fair Use Press this morning. Hits through the roof, naturally. (There is a nice comments thread there, too.)

Boing Boing jumped in around 2 p.m. The roof officially blew off Fair Use Press at that point.

God bless the blogosphere. If you've linked me, tell me.

Oh, and Blogcritics has my take on the Franken case, how it led to this play and what I hope to achieve.

Reviews:

Only from friends so far. The reactions seem to fall into one of two categories: 1) "This is sick. What's wrong with you?" and 2) "This is sick. I love it."

Keythe Farley and Laurence O'Keefe, my collaborators on Bat Boy, just weighed in with the latter.

Keythe: "Dude, what happened to you? You write like a man possessed. Your play is angry, vile, incendiary, libelous and altogether satisfying in a very deep and dark way. Can I direct it?"

Larry: "Once again you prove yourself one f***ing sick sick f***ing sick f***. Congratulations! Play is hilarious and well-constructed, and makes me want to go out and sodomize, sodomize, sodomize. Which is now mostly legal! Whew. Talk about good timing."

My answer to Keythe was, of course, yes. In addition to co-writing Bat Boy, Keythe directed the original production at the Actors' Gang.

Silence from some others I am interpreting as Response #1.

Al Barger at Blogcritics hasn't read the play (I don't think), but he says about the idea, "Brian, you are one sick sonofabitch. What the hell is wrong with you anyway? Good work. Very clever. O'Reilly has really asked for it. OK, then buddy- it's ON. Yee-haw!"

No sales figures yet, but I just got a production inquiry from a Los Angeles theater company. I'm holding off on licensing any rights until I figure out the best debut production for the play.

UPDATE: Another offer from a theater, and a member of an indie filmmaker group in Kansas City just inquired about the film rights, too. Hmm....film, eh? That hadn't even crossed my mind yet. Now casting Bill O'Reilly...
