More Flemming for Governor coverage
The news is pouring in. First, E! Online writes about the Flemming for Governor campaign:
The coauthor of the off-Broadway hit Bat Boy: The Musical said Tuesday he has "an extremely simple platform": If elected, he won't serve. Instead, the 37-year-old Los Angeles filmmaker said he would resign, appointing Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, a fellow Democrat, as his, and Davis', successor. Opposed in principle to the recall ("a right-wing extremist coup attempt"), Flemming views his candidacy as a backup plan for voters. He does not view it as a joke. "If you vote for the Terminator, you're going to get the Terminator," Flemming said. "If you vote for me, you're going to get the lieutenant governor."
Second, of course, is the news that Sen Dianne Feinstein is out, socialite Arianna Huffington is in, and popcorn movie-actor Arnold Schwarzenneger will be entering the race after all:
The surprise announcement by the "Terminator" actor, a moderate Republican, capped a day of fast-paced developments in one of the most unpredictable political races in recent history.
Earlier, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein had ruled out a run, labeling the election "more and more like a carnival every day." And political commentator Arianna Huffington declared she would run as an independent.
Every one of these events is good for the Flemming for Governor campaign, as a circus-like atmosphere only increases the need for a sane backup plan. However, one potential event would effectively end the Flemming for Governor campaign, but of course I would welcome it:
Democratic political sources said Wednesday evening that Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante is now strongly leaning toward putting his name on the ballot in case his boss is voted out of office.
Finally, the "All Things Considered" segment is up, and it is disappointing. They ended up using a tiny portion of the interview, and not the best stuff I said, either. Oh well.
